Color or B&W?

Dan, I like the pose, the hair, the sexy look in her eyes and slightly open mouth. However I don't think i should have to decide about the shape of her nostrils in b&w or color.

Color. Can you share what you did for her skin in PP? I really like the look of it.. it may just be partly her makeup but she has a nice glow or something to her.

The clothes are too busy in both BW and color. They detract from a pretty girl. The catchlights in her eyes brightens them. That's good. Ask her to wet her lips next time. They are very dry looking. Also, the up nose shot detracts. Looking up like that foreshortens her torso making it look larger than her face by comparison. The camera should be higher up. Her right missing hand gives an appearance of an amputee or that it's somehow stuck to her head. Your name shouldn't be on the picture. Although most of the background is out of focus (that's good), the small branch and leaf above her head is in focus and also draws the eye away from the model.

I soften the midtones and brighten the highlights by using the dodge tool on a separate layer.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll definitely take some of this and use it for my next shoot. As for my name on the photo, there is no way in hell that I will ever not put my name on one of my images if it's being posted on the internet. How is that even relevant to the photo in the first place?

Chalk another up for colour. As mentioned the conversion appears harsh but I think it is because of the hard edges on the background, it makes it too contrasty and there is too much texture that draws my eye, in the colour version I'm less drawn/distracted by the background and my eye wanders away from her less. Beautiful work as always!

I mentioned the name on the photo because it pulls the eye away from and detracts from the model. If anyone wanted to steal your photo, they'd only have to crop the top or use a cloning tool. You could add a frame around the image and add you name there. Good luck.

It's irrelevant to the photograph. So back to the original question, color or black and white?

The one in color struck me as her skin looking - I don't know what... sickly? vampirish? Now that I got to page 2 and see the original, no wonder. I liked the B&W better, I guess if something's more harsh or contrasty I'd rather see it in B&W where you see the tones and no color. I think maybe in color the pale white face and a casual sweater and yellow leaves (which weren't yellow after all) didn't quite make sense to me somehow. I love some of your other portraits, this one doesn't do as much for me.
