Colormunki & Printer

I like the Colormunki & Color Passport very much. I think they're great products.

However, the printer I'm using does not allow for custom colour profiles and so therefore cannot be calibrated. Can anyone recommend a decent printer (i.e. a couple hundred bucks, decent ink prices, decent quality prints etc.) that they know is capable of having it's built-in colour profile disabled so custom ones can be used?

I'm using an iMac with Mountain Lion.

Epson and Canon are the only 2 printer makes that are still worth considering.

HP used to be worth looking at, but pretty much gave up on making decent prosumer grade printers.

You'll be hard pressed to find a prosumer grade printer for just a couple of hundred $$$'s.
How wide do you need to print? 8.5", 13", 17", or larger?

The Epson Styles Pro R2880 is about $600.

8.5" X 11" is fine for me.

Sad thing is, I really like my Epson Stylus NX430. Best printer I've had in years. Great ink prices, though some people would argue that, nice print quality, paperhandling etc. It's only failing is the lack of the user being able to disable the built-in colour management. It has no built-in profiles for photo paper. Not even for Epson's own photopaper.

I keep hoping for updated drivers with more functions but the company won't respond to my enquiries.

I'm thinking maybe a new Canon, but they were pretty steep in ink costs.

UPDATE:
I had a very strange back and forth email discussion with Epson. They referred me to options that just were not there in my software. i.e. click on 'such and such' but 'such and such' option did not appear in my menu choices. Screenshots were sent and finally someone at Epson caught the problem; the AirPrint driver does not have the same options as the USB driver.
I was disappointed that so much time was waisted in emailing when all that was needed was a message such as "All option not available while using the AirPrint driver" or some other note in the software.
Great product, lame support.
