The photo has a full stop of underexposure, the lighting is pretty harsh and offers little sense of depth, and the composition is very busy.

Perhaps just 2 or 3 crayons would have worked better, or having the crayons on a solid color background.

The diagonal lines of the underlying drawing provide a strong sense of movement but that is broken up by all the short straight lines made by the 28 or so crayons scattered across the frame.

Keith is bang on with his comments; I would look at trying a composition where you have a similar number and colour of crayons to the number of stripes; try laying them out in colour order; perhaps in contrast to the stripes on the paper...
