My photograph of an installation of statues commemorating an actual photograph taken in 1897 of some of those whose labor built this Erie Canal lock in Lockport, NY.
I took this photograph in full color but was attracted to it because I saw the scene as B/W which allowed me to convey the original moment. I left the yellow bannister and the green weeds as they communicated that this is a modern day color photo commerorating the original photo and the men who built the locks. I made some minor adjustments to the color hues of some of the gray areas to help communicate what I was seeing and feeling
