I have used my Nikon D40X quite a bit and have a few Nikkor DX lenses for it. However, I'm looking for something with a bit more "umph" to it to --- something I find the DX lenses have yet to provide. (By "umph" I mean zoom )
After some thought, I find the Tamron SP AF200-500 F/5-6.3 and Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 AF APO DG OS HSM are both cheap and for the most part are highly rated. I have never used Sigma or Tamron lenses before, but have had friends that have used them on Nikon D70s and have been pleased with the results. I would love to purchase one of these, BUT I do not know if I will run into any issues regarding the compatibility of this lens on the D40X. (Ex. Darker picture, distorted image etc.)
Probably an amatuer question, but better safe than sorry.
Thanks
