first I needed a frame... how did I do it? I scanned the "frame" from an old, ragged looking folded piece of paper and tweaked it some to make it look good...
what then?
copy the frame into your original pic (now sitting in a 2nd layer) and add a mask to the picture layer (bottom layer). Now hit the command key and click on the thumbnail of the frame (top layer), you got a selection. Fill this selection with black (in the mask) - voila ur pic is nicely framed.
to add a plain frame outside the pic, just use a 2nd layer and simply draw it... look inside my gallery - I made up slide frames...
I have several PS actions that make frames and borders, such as Bud Guinn's EZ- Miter, which makes a double matte and wood or metal frame effect, and several others.
