Hmm... have to admit Lew, this one isn't grabbing me the way your images usually do.

I know that explaining a joke makes it unfunny but I can tell you what I saw in this.
The action is caught in such a way that every single person in the frame is the middle of doing something different and their activity or thoughts can be deduced from looking at them.
That may make it too much of personal picture for anyone else to look at but I liked it for that reason.

Lew, I like it and before I saw your explanation I concluded that was what I liked about it, the different actions. In my case it was based on the groups of people the two tables and the couple standing. I felt that each group told a separate story and I wanted to know more.

I guess I look at a photo like I read, left to right. The one thing that popped into my mind upon reaching the right side, was that the guy standing over the girl is looking down her dress! I don't know, maybe I'm a perv.

The exchange between father and son, especially the father's expresssion and gesticulation, is one strong point of interest, the other being the posture and expression of the waiter. I find my Attention moving from the one to the other.

I like the composition. Following the gaze of the woman standing next to the waiter leads to the man on that table, and from there the eye moves naturally on to the next table.
