I really like the texture and pattern in the ceiling and I think the processing really fits it. But find the signs along the sides distracting.

Here's how I'm seeing it finished.

Thx, great job I agree it does looks better.

There's certainly something striking about the 'folds'(?) in the roof and how to light hits them. I like the re-touch by deeky, I agree it looks more finished. Nice shot :)

Agreed, while I am very slowly improving with my photographic skills I also need to improve with my processing of the RAW files..............ahh such a long road I still have to go :)

The lights form a leading line and that line leads to the square sign in the distance. Absent the sign, the leading line leads to nothing and just takes the viewers eye out of the image frame
In addition the signs at the end of the line add a subtle touch of color that adds interest. That the color is also a shade of red implies STOP even if the shape of the sign isn't quite right for STOP.
The photo in post #1 also has some detail on the wall in the lower left of the photo.

Those elements all add drama and tension to the photo in post #1 and are lost in the edit in post #2.

IMO the edited version lacks sufficient drama, tension, and interest to keep the average viewer as engaged as the version of the photo in post #1.

KmH - I'm trying to see it, I really am. But I'm not. For me, it's the pattern on the ceiling that I want to look at. The signs (on the side or in line with the lights) pull me away from the texture, but aren't what I want to be looking at. They seem to be too much of a contradiction (not in a good way) to the texture of the ceiling.

Then again, I've been known to be a little off in my perception. Just ask my wife....... ;)

I like the edited version much better. It looks like a spine. It holds enough visual interest to keep me engaged.

I played with it a little. I just out the signs on the right. I did decide to keep the signs on the left. I'm not saying that this is better than deeky's, I just wanted to provide an in-between option.

P.S. - I'll delete the photo off my flickr after the thread is "dead". I'm not sure how to post a picture here otherwise :P

Unreal. But nice. Has a feel of action comics from 30's. :D

I actually like the original best, but I suppose it's just a matter of what are you trying to see in these images

Very neat shot. Would be curious to see what one would look like in portrait... if you could have gotten even more of the lights, for example. You could have also gotten away with a tilt I think, to the same general effect.
