Couple Dandelions

Shot a few more black and whites yesterday, I'm kinda diggin these two, thought i'd get some comments on them.

I do like the double flowers in the first ... except the two in background.

Not sure about the second, not that exciting.

yeah, I was liking the big one sort of bullying the little one...was thinking of plucking out the two buds off, but ended up leaving them there, guess I should have pulled em up

the second one I like for no apparent reasoning, lol. i agree its boring and would have done well with another flower in it. oh, wait..I think i got one with a smaller flower in the top right to help balance...let me find it and see

Yeah, I would have moved them out of the way.

If you like B&W you should look at real B&W prints (not stuff on the web) and examine the tonality ... there is a magic there that most people doing B&W digital do not get.

These were not black and white and I lost focus in center of big one so I didnt post them...but I was playing with framing in the little one in upper right for balance. does it work? lack of focus aside?

If you like B&W you should look at real B&W prints (not stuff on the web) and examine the tonality ... there is a magic there that most people doing B&W digital do not get.

yeah, I see real b&w and then look at mine and realize much is missing. I have not learned to capture that yet...but in time.

I kinda liked these ones too, there is nothing else in the shot so again says boring, but in the first one...I'm kinda liking that blur, it almost suggests movement...which there was none...

Yes, and no
It is good you are thinking about composition by using background to contrast/complement the main subject ... in this case the blurry yellow spot in the background does not work ... possibly many blurry little yellow spots.

Why would many work better then one? to compensate for such a large foreground image?

Would it have helped or been the same result if the little flower was not blurry?

It's funny you say that, 'cause I put one on facebook and someone said "wow..what kinda flower is that" followed by after my telling them "oh..yeah...it is a dandelion" lol. Man I love facebook.
