Was going to try to do some street photography today, but I guess the 106 degree heat kept everybody but the doofus with a camera inside. Instead I got a couple of things I found interesting, interested to hear anybody's thoughts?

kind of part of a series I'm doing in B&W.

I know the feeling, same kind of goes with "Transit" with my latest project. But if it doesn't belong in b/w it just doesn't belong in b/w. Keep it in the series, but don't get attached to it if something else more fitting takes it's place.

I like the BW in both and I like what you're doing here. Here is a proposed edit to the second one:

I removed a few bright spots, either by cloning or by cropping a little on top, increased the contrast in the wood a little via a curves adjustment, and straightened the right side using skew (you could do this on the first one as well). Just my two cents ...

I'm not really fond of the mannequin's head being chopped off in the first one. I like the second one in black and white but I feel like it's mostly grey and is missing some punch.

Thanks! Yeah, I actually had already added in quite a large amount of contrast in the wood with curves as well, though I guess I could have/should have gone further. The original, unprocessed image was extremely flat and I tend to worry that I'm going too far with contrast. I'll probably go back and mess around with the curves adjustments now. Now if I can just remember which one was assigned to what, lol.

What is the theme? Emotions? I noticed that in both of the photos there are little faces draw with facial expressions. On the door in the first one... and you can't overlook all of them in the second.

I personally like the second one a lot. Very clever.

Wasn't really thinking in those terms at the time, but yeah, that's a great after-the-fact theme to them. They were really just the things I found interesting while walking down the street the other day.
