Couples dance

My friends and are doing a "photo challenge" that has a different theme each week. This week's theme is dance. Thoughts? C&C please

Looks underexposed to me, and the fact that the man is more prominent in the picture is just wrong, IMO. Also, if the hands are to be in the frame they should be in focus, also IMO. Besides, the theme of "dance" is not conveyed in my opinion.

Underexposed? The picture is too dark? That's what I was going for. An intimate moment, I feel like if the picture was brighter it would take away from that.
If I had rotated a bit to the left to capture more of her face would that have helped? Or are you talking about having her hair pulled back?

I like the concept. The pose is definitely very intimate.

I think a different lighting pattern may have helped this shot a lot. Did you use on camera flash? Was the flash really close to the camera?
had the light looked like it came overhead or like it came from a lamp, I would feel like a silent voyeur. But with the light coming from what appears to me to be straight in, it makes me feel like I've "caught" them. I hope that makes sense.

I think Designer has a point in the posing, but that isn't to say it's not a great image as it stands. I would say it would have been interested to see her rotated to her right, and the guy almost in the background from the light falloff. Just an idea.

Yes, to me it looks underexposed, as in; needing more light. As written above, if the light was directed from a different location, bright enough to allow for proper exposure, it might have produced a better photograph overall.

Then there are still my other comments.

Underexposed? The picture is too dark? That's what I was going for. An intimate moment, I feel like if the picture was brighter it would take away from that.

But the hand is brighter than faces and OOF.
It attracts the eye and kills the mood.

I don't know of many photographic situations in which one would underexpose on purpose. What takes away from this scene is the underexposure and all the other things I mentioned.

That brings the exposure up, but it doesn't help the photo at all. Maybe we should turn the lights back down

It's the hands that throw this all out of whack.
They are large, because they're close, OOF, and ugly
