I was looking @ the clouds to the south in last light & noticed how they were being lit by the setting sun & wondered what affect a CPL filter would have on the image. These images are out of camera (OOC) converted to jpeg & re-sized only.

A polarizer is not going to do much with the sun basically near 180 degrees opposite the camera's position...or below the horizon...

I think this is an opportunity to engage the new folk into the use of CPLs Derrel. However, you have missed the points of the compass; looking south, sun setting west is 90 degrees not 180 where the CPL is to excel.

I did adjust the filter for maximum definition of the clouds but was surprised to find that I could almost eliminate the clouds by rotating the filter. Too bad I did not take that shot as I now regret not doing so.
