What's new

Critique my work?

also- I took this one a while back.. but i think its up there on the list of my favorites. Its a litte under exposed- but i like the new age camera in with all of the old brick and whatnot.

I like this one, may I try something?

I would take that camera off in Photoshop, and crop those right Pylons off, or picture them while standing more to your left, leading the eyes into the image.

Try B&W and higher contrast (that's just me, I like higher contrast)

Sure. I welcome people to re edit my pictures. The only thing is- (at least for me) the focus is the camera. Just showing new thing added to older structures. I'm actually wanting to have a collection of photos like that. But I'd definitely like to see what you'd do with it!

The images (at least the B&W version) would have come out better had the image been in RAW.
I chose a square crop because for one, it looks like a Pink Floyd album Cover and Secondly because of reasons. (Go 6x6!)

In Quotes as these are NOT my pics.

Upped the brightness / exposure on the tubes leading into the pipes as those where getting lost
Same with the pipes themselves, to really show them off.
Photoshopped the Surveillance camera and some of the trash out.
The Pipe on the bottom right could stand to be deleted, or not in frame at all.

The white balance is off, and I do get my fingers hit by rulers for that. however it's the way I like it.

Even now I am thinking that those pipes deserve more light and nicer shades.
Do me a favour?
Re-shoot that picture, but shoot in HDR, here:
HDR and Beyond – Seeing is Believing!

HDR should always be used for interior shots, and many many times for Black and White architecture. Or Just Architecture in general.

(Photobucket is not loading atm, the BW pic will be up shortly)

I like your crops. And trust me- I wish I could reshoot it, but that alley is about 800 miles from here in Savannah Georgia lol

And it was originally in raw actually lol

The first I don't like the brick that much.

The second one is good, but you need to process much closer to the building than that as you are leaving a big gap :-p

Also- i know. I think I'm going to re process both. Mostly number one. Sometimes when I edit, I'll go way overboard (normally on accident) then when I come back I don't really have a reference point. Lol

Gap - there is a white unprocessed contour around the building

Right! I thought maybe that's what you meant. I've already fixed it by masking, I just haven't put it up yet lol

And that glowing gap tends to happen. Im looking into getting a good HDR software.

Photomatix is pretty good for outdoors.

Otherwise,

Lightroom or Photoshop and darken those areas.
Make to opacity light, like, 3 to 7% and pass over it if need be.

I actually masked a different version of the image in Photoshop. I think it looks much better, but my Internet is down so I can't post it.
