Critique- University of Kansas campus shot

Hey, i'm new. The in thing to do seems to ask for c&c so... any tips would be greatly appreciated!
I just got a d50 a week ago, it's my first real step towards photography. I still need a photobucket, but they are down now... so maybe this facebook link will work.

I know it's a bit out of focus, but as of now it's my most interesting shot. The top of the campanile (the tall building) is also overexposed... Maybe an HDR would have done better?

well i believe your first step is already done....you pretty much critiqued it yourself. hdr may work out great for this....go back try it again and show us that
