Just picked up a camera for the first time 2 months ago....I recently made the jump between Auto and Manual mode. These are the shots i came up with -Any Advice? I know i need a lot of help :hail: -lol


--All shot with D3100 Nikon Kit lens

1) Trail
Iso100,18mm,f/22,1/20sec

2) Church
iso 100 ,22mm,f/25,1/20sec

3) Snow Log
iso 100, 20mm, f/8.0, 1/125

4) Sparky
Iso 1600, 35mm, f/ 5.6, 1/80 sec

5) Claws
iso 400 24mm f/4.0 1/40sec

Welcome to the forum. One suggestion I will make is to become more familiar with depth of field ('DoF') which is the area of the image that is in focus at a given aperture, focal length and distance. You could easily have shot the first two images in your post at f8 or 11 which would have allowed you to increase your shutter speed to a more appropriate speed resulting in sharp images. 1/20 is just a bit too slow and there is motion blur evident in the high-res versions. the snow log is the best of the log in my opinion, purely on contrast, definitely have a look at some photographers and see how they frame their imagery for guidance though! keep up the good work
