crystal feathers

One or two of you might be interested in this. It is a picture of a chemical crystal (tartaric acid) grown on a microscope slide and then photographed down a microscope under cross-polarisation. I transferred it to my computer and tidied it up slightly in PS. I thought it looked like colourful feathers. It is a very tiny area of the field of view. You would be amazed at th

e wonders of microscopic images.
