#1: I really like the composition and background of this picture. Although the chipmunk is a bit underexposed on the left side.
#2: I like this one too. If you cropped this one, I would recommned putting it off to the side a bit more (preferably the right side since it's head is turned left). Good colour, contrast, exposure.

Outstanding set. Just a solid composition with the dead tree in picture one. Pic #2 is nice, nothing special, and just isn't in the same class as picture #1.
