The CZ route from Denver through the Rocky and Sierra Nevada mountains is considered by many to be
the most scenic long distance train route in the USA.
The photo was shot through a tinted window and I have edited the photograph.
My sleeper berth accommodation (Roomette) was on the other side of the train so I had to shoot this through the window at the upper stair well.
For this photo:
I used what some would call an ancient, useless, obsolete camera - A 12.3 MP Nikon D300s - hand held
Lens: Nikon AF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6G II VR @ 18 mm (no filters)
Manual shooting mode
Center-weighted metering
AF-S, single point focus (middle, cross-type focus point)
ISO 400
f/5.6
1/125
The original un-edited image is a Nikon .NEF 14-bit depth Raw file.
Per usual I ediedt in the ProPhoto RGB color space. I used Photoshop CC 2017 Camera Raw first, and then Photoshop CC 2017. After a slight crop the final image resolution is 3724 x 2482 pixels.
Once edited the image was reduced to an 8-bit color depth, the color space was changed to sRGB IEC61966-2.1, and saved as a JPEG file at a reduced Quality setting that yielded a 1.04 MB file.
