d40 lenses

What would be a decent lens that i could buy for my d40?
i would be using it alot for biking/skateboarding picturers, and also some urban shots.
im not looking to spend to much since im a poor student and dont have alot, thanks for the suggestions and what would some of the prices be.

Well I have decided to get the Nikon 18-135mm AF-S lens for $ 329 and then the SB-800 to go with it

if it says AF-S or AF-I on it, than you're golden. If it doesn't, than you'll need to manually focus.

Conventional wisdom will tell you that, if you want sharp action shots of skateboarding/biking, you'll want a max aperture of at least f/2.8 (lower the better), and with f/2.8 AF-S lenses don't come very cheap.

Do you have any lenses at the moment? The 18-55 kit, perhaps?

i have a few lenses for my minolta, but i usualy onnly took lanscape shots with that.
im not to worried about having to manualy focus, i was planning on it anyways, so what am i looking at in price range for the one that the poster above me was considering
