I am looking to upgrade from my D5600 to a D500. I have a Nikkor AF-S 200-500mm lens that I use for wildlife photography. When using with my D5600 with VR on there is a noticeable stabilization of the image when you press the shutter button half way. When I tried it on the D500 there was no noticeable difference in the image when I pressed the shutter. Does anyone know if the D500 works differently or does not support VR? I also noted there was no VR On/Off menu items on the D500 as there is on the D5600 and the user manual made no mention of one.

Have a D500 with a Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 E ED VR. Check your switches on the lens, Sport mode is made for panning and stabilizes vertically, but Norm should stabilize in all direction, which you should see handheld at 500mm.

Thanks. I didn't think of that. I have it in sport mode. I'll check it out.
