D7000 or 7D

Hi everyone,

I am new to photography and have the chance to get either the Nikon D7000 or the Canon 7D for no cost (I have enough AIRMILES to get either one). So my question is which would be the better camera. My photos would mostly be around the farm, any wildlife that I see while working out in the field, perhaps some aerial photos when I am up flying. Would like to do some wide panoramic photos of machinery working into the dusk. I know glass is a HUGE part of all these different aspects but right now looking for a body.

I should mention there are other options on the airmiles website if any of those DSLRs would be better than the two I mentioned.

Just bought a 7D myself and its the perfect camera for me. However I'm after action sports shots and I bought the 7D because of the speed in which it can take shots. Don't know anything about the Nikon really. I've had 5 Canon's and a few Panasonic video cameras but no Nikons. The autofocus is awesome compared to the other cameras I've had. I get shots I never got before. I've never had to send one of my Canon cameras back for any kind of repair either. Its a hard decision because there are lenses in the mix as well. I like the Canon glass is one of the reasons I stick with their products. Although if you are into video lately Nikon with their clean hdmi wins the battle in my opinion. I use my 7D with an external hdmi recorder for shooting video. And there are gotchas because of the way Canon does their firmware. I'm hoping they will take Nikon's path in the future.

Agreed if that's an option, its worth adding money to get this camera. At this point the D7100 is the best cropped sensor camera available in the market.

But to stick to your question the 7D is more of a sport/outdoor camera it has a faster FPS then the Nikon and better weather sealing (the D7000 also has weather sealing but not as pro grade as the 7D) but the Nikon D7000 has a slight edge in low light (high ISO).
Both excellent cameras and honestly its very hard to advise because these are both amazing cameras.

I own the D7000 and truly love it, for me the 7D was not even an option because the D7000 was considerably cheaper then the 7D but in any case for me I probably still go with the D7000, for me its simply an outstanding awesome camera that rocks in all fields especially in low light which is a very important thing for me.
