D70s battery error

the shutter on my D70s locks down and shuts the camera off when using the spare battery I got with my kit. anyone else experienced this?

I really don't know what to make of that. Could you walk us through the exact steps you took leading up to this?

I have no idea what could be causing this at all. I reiterate that I think you got a bad D70s from the dealer. I'd take it back if I were you. These are problems that you shouldn't be having and it sounds like you just got the lemon of the bunch.
