Im sorry about posting this, im sure that the people on here alot get annoyed with these threads, but I cant find any opinions on the kit I want to order, and I really dont want to get burned [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Digital-18-105mm-70-300mm-Accessory/dp/B001FOK1EK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1241365882&sr=1-4]Amazon.com: Nikon D90 Digital SLR Camera with 18-105mm AF-S DX VR Nikkor Lens [Outfit] + Nikon 70-300mm Lens + 16GB Cameta Bonus Accessory Kit: Camera & Photo[/ame]

Ive seen good things about cameta, but ive seen bad things about camera kits in general. Is this kit a good value, and Is any of the stuff in it junk?

Thanks for being tollerent.

I tend to stay away from these sorts kits as they tend to be bundles of cheap crap for which people who don't know better will go "Z0MG!!11 Wut a deel!!11!1oneleventyone!11"

The camera, 18-105 and bag are all good. But, the 70-300 lens with that bundle is the uber-cheap version with no VR. I wouldn't use a 16GB card -- that's a lot of data you could accidentally lose. I don't care for that cleaning kit either.

That kit is not full of junk like some of the others. But the price is no big savings. The Nikon bags are overpriced for what they are, the card is just a normal memory card. Basically its just a kit with things put together at normal price. Maybe a $50 reduction if you bought them seperately.

I completely trust Cameta on ebay or Amazon. I have ordered from them half a dozen times. But not all kits, even ones without the junk are bargains.

BTW. You can get the D90 with 18-105vr kit, and add the same 70-300 (non VR as in the kit). For $130 less from B&H right now. All in stock. So basically with the "kit" from Cameta your paying $130 for the card, reader, bag, cleaning kit, and the recover software, which some cards come with now. Basically about normal price.

If it were me. I would just order the D90 & 18-105VR kit from B&H ($1,149) and hold off on the 70-300 (non VR lens). For some reason the D90 is getting hard to come by.

Same price for same kit a Adorama as well. Both very reptuable companies.

Does anyone know how many minutes of movie i could take with the D90 on one of those 4gb cards aproximately, considering that is hi-def or whatever.

I agree

I agree, stay away from those kits. I purchased my body separately and started buying the lenses I wanted instead of the ones they bundle with it.

I've found these figures on another site.

"An 8GB SDHC card should be able to hold a total of about 1 hour's worth of HD video clips. 16GB SDHC cards are seeing a downward trend in prices, especially after rebates, and those will let you store 2 hours of HD video."
