Hi everyone,

Following the Early Morning challenge it would only make sense that the December '07 theme be "Midday". Hopefully those who had some fun with the November challenge will enjoy the Midday challenge also. At least you'll be able to sleep in for this one! Good luck everyone and as always please don't forget to read the boring, but important stuff down below :).

We're also proud to announce that we have a sponsor for the December Challenge. Quik Pod has agreed to sponsor the Midday challenge. The Quik Pod DSLR is the world's first monopod with a grip handle at the base. It is lightweight (9 ounces), has a quick release camera clip and a built-in wide angle mirror for viewing overhead shots or self-portraits. The handle at the base doubles as an extendable handheld grip for cameras, camcorders or lighting holder and provides a low center of gravity foot for support when used as a monopod.

Comes with a carry bag, hiking clip, wrist strap, aluminum end cap and rubberized monopod adapter tip. Extends to 53" and contracts to 18". Recommended camera weight limit of 2 lbs.

There is more important information regarding rules and procedures located in the FAQ section. We highly recommend that you take the time to read these FAQs.
Good luck to everyone and have fun with this challenge!

*150KB will be taken as the “size on disk” and not the actual file size. Also some email programs consider 1KB=1000Bytes as oppposed to 1KB=1024Bytes. When these programs calculate attachment size they will often read larger then they actually are. To be safe we recommend a target size of about 140KB so that once sent it does not go over 150KB.

Hi,

I had a small question....I am new to this forum and this is my first post. So can I take part in the monthly contests that are organised by TPF?

Yes, but to vote you'll need to ensure that you bring your post count up. You do have plenty of time to do that though.

Just wanted to post this as an update. We currently have a new sponsor for the photo challenge. A Quickpod (Compod in Canada) will be supplied to the winner of the December challenge.

Wait, so midday would mean about noon?

Cool...I want to enter. Does anyone know of any great web designers for photography?? I am looking to create my own site with a nice gallery- preferably flash. Any ideas?

Wait, so midday would mean about noon?

Depends on what time I get up?

In Alaska would that be about June 21st? ;)

Here's one more, that's not a joke. Mid day in Topeka Kansas (I picked it because it's kind of the middle of everything US) is actually 12:19 PM on Dec 18th, 2007.

So you are correct, it's about Noon, but except for two days a year, it's not Noon.

Cool prize for the winner. I was just thinking how I could make one of these, to hold a fish-eye, away from me and higher than I can reach. Look at that, someone already invented it. All I'd need is a remote release and all those hours of designing and making mistakes, are done for me.

Nice going QuickPod!

Just thought I'd give you all a heads up that I'll be out of town during the holidays. This just means that you won't receive a response to any submission until I return at the end of the month.

Please ensure you read the challenge instructions carefully. If a photo is submitted that doesn't qualify you may not receive a response in time to make the corrections and submit again.

Anyway happy holidays everyone and good luck!

If you're a Mac user, iPhoto and a .Mac account is all you need. But if you were a Mac user you'd probably know that. I use Adobe Dreamweaver to create some of my galleries. If you have PS CS thru PS CS3 it has some exporting to gallery options available. There are even some Flash-based versions.
