Depth of Field on Panasonic FZ-150

Hi, all!
I bought the Panasonic FZ-150 last week and since I'm not a great photographer (not at all), I kinda like the camera. The only thing that REALLY disappointed me was that I was not able to have a shallow depth of field on my pictures. I only get a shallow depth of field when shooting on macro and I'm really close to the object. Tried everything (macro, small f-stop, zooming in, the creative control miniature effect...everything) but I can't have a shallow depth of field. Tried as well an after treatment on softwares to create a fake DOF, but it look ridiculous. I read somewhere that using a Neutral Density Filter I could get a better DOF, but didn't tried yet. Does someone knows if the ND Filter can really help me? Any tips on what to do or what accessory to buy that would help me?

Bridge cameras have a small sensor and a correspondingly wide depth of field. There is not a lot you can do since it's a limitation of the camera itself. Separate your subject as far as possible from the background and then get as close as you can to the subject, use the longest focal length that you can as well as the largest aperture. That's really about all.

A neutral density filter will only help because it reduces the amount of light entering the lens and allows you to use a larger aperture.
