Please, be gentle. There are from 3/8/2008, taken with a Sony pocket camera, and post processed with only seat-of-the-pants ability with the photo program. They are JPG's, probably noisy, small, and with everything else in the world wrong with them. Saturation was pushed considerably, This stuff in the SoCal desert can get pretty washed out.

If you can get around all the tech and camera errors, let me know what you think...

try and go out closer to sunrise or sunset and your colours will look a lot better.

the first one is a cool scene but it is missing a little something. maybe if you got down lower, closer to the flowers?

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the 'magic hour', this was planned as a day trip, rather than a photo expedition, and the wife was along. It's easier to get her to go look at the flowers on a day trip than get her up at 3am for a dawn on site.

I do have many shot that day from a lower angle (prolly not that scene), but what I was trying to show there was the large carpet effect that these flowers can have in places.

The way they make a carpet is pretty cool. I was just down that way a month and a half ago but unfortunately too early for the flowers.

And I hear ya about missing out on the good photography hours for the sake of being social. I've squandered too many good moments for the sake of being social (ie going out in the mid-afternoon, not spending as much time as I would like, etc.)
