Why is it associated with Devil?

No one really knows for sure. In the times before it existed as a hiking and recreation spot, it was particularly treacherous to navigate as the vegetation is so thick; and the forest along the creek which runs through it forms a canopy and covers almost the entire place in shade and darkness -- somewhat unusual in an area (Marin county, California) dominated mostly by rolling hills.
I'm not going to say you sense the presence of evil out there. But it is very quiet and has been known to give people the creeps. All I could hear there yesterday was the creaking of trees.
