Dilemma!

OK boyz-n-girlz, I'm having a dilemma. I was planning to go visit my former country (Romania) with the wife. She's never been to Europe and wants to go. But...

The prices are just ferociously high! 5k to 6k for a 2 week stay including hotels but no meals or car rental! Holy smokes!...

So, I looked around to spending 2 weeks in:

1 - London
2 - Rome
3 - Maui
4 - Australia
5 - Greece

I found packages to the above destinations for less than the trip to Romania. So, if no luck with trimming down the expenses in Romania it looks like we'll be going to one of the above places.

I'm asking y'all:

What do yout think what the advantages/disadvantages are for each of the 5 destinations and why.

From my point of view:

1 - London - never been there and would love to visit;
2 - Rome - been there many times, speak the language (need a refresher course though) and know the attractions well, I can play guide to my wife;
3 - Maui - interesting place but not as interesting as Kaua'i;
4 - Aussie land - Isn't it winter in mid July? But would love to go.
5 - Greece - never been there and would love to visit.

Feel free to post any thoughts (in other words make up my fr***ing mind for me!) and vote.

If you're really going because she wants to, the guided tour of Rome would be good for her...

London is a great city, but then again so are some of the others. It's a very very diverse place and there are extremes of everything. I can recommend a huge number of things to do for free/negligable cost in London which are away from the masses and are fascinating insights into the city.

If... and it's by no means a cheap option, you want to stay in London, I can help you out with finding accommodation and recommendations. It doesn't have to break the bank, but it's going to be more expensive than anywhere else generally.

Ahha! Here I am, posting this Dilemma thing with no hopes to go to Romania when my last chance comes through and makes up my mind! Why is it that it always happens so? :scratch:

Anyway, we're going to Romania so I can take her to see Dracula's castle. But... next trip will be Greece, whenever that happens.

Oh, and actually Erik and I plan to some day visit many of the places you listed, plus more. Greece and Rome are at the top of our lists, but he also wants to visit London, Maybe Paris, Egypt, and who knows where else. After my two trips this year (NYC and DC) that is what I will be saving for.

I can't believe that Oz is cheaper than Romania...hmmm. I have a friend in Seattle who is Romanian...that's all, nothing else to say on that. Just thought I'd mention it.

I was going to say Australia but that was out of purely selfish reasons ie. you can come visit me there because I'll be home by then.
