Ditching the Grip

I hereby REFUSE to use a battery grip until you have completely healed.

Much as I'd love to my battery grip on my 400D went on so tight the gears broke and - - well - it doesn't come off any more. My 7D also went into hiding when it heard I'd opened this thread - I've a feeling the cat stole it, but I'm not sure.

So since I can't take part till Derrel is finished with the saw (can I use it next) I'll just leave this to help with your recovery

I am saving up for the MB-D12 so no grip for now I guess.

I carry 2 cameras on my body at weddings. I do not need the extra weight. Plus I shoot 95% horizontal.

Ok.. wow.. you guys just really aren't getting this at all are you?

Lol

Let's try this again. Snerd recently had surgery on his shoulder - as a result he cannot use his grip on his camera at the moment. So, as a show of support I am taking my own grips off my cameras for now and I won't be using them again until Snerd is able to use his, and I recommend that my fellow TPF'ers who also use battery grips to do the same as a show of solidarity.

If however you don't like or use battery grips, well since it's the internet maybe you can just fib a bit to Snerd and tell him you won't be using a grip either - and just leave off the part where you mention that you don't ever use them.

Lol
I shoot vertical and if I have to keep reaching over my head to shoot without a grip, I'd be needing surgery soon too.

I'm in! Now, I don't actually have a grip yet. However, I'm looking for one. So, in solidarity, I won't get one until Snerd can use his. I used a grip the last couple of months I had the D80 and I loved it.

But i'll stay gripless until Snerd can use his.

Stopped using the grip on my D600. Thought it was overkill. I usually take less than 100 pics at a time. I might put it on for an event. Later Ed

Overread--the hacksaw is on its way to the UK, address was "the secret spot clubhouse and TPF moderator retreat". I broke the last Stanley blade about 80% of the way through the first night's cutting job, so I ended up going to Home Depot the next morning and buying a 10-pack of generic Hwangdong Industries brand, Chinese-made replacement blades for $1.99....ended up breaking three of those junkers before finally haggling through the last 1.5 inches of the bottom of the D3x's built-in grip. So, grip removed! Only one problem...the damned shutter release button is now not connected to the camera...and the memory card storage slots are also in the now-removed grip...so...

Yongnuo makes saw blades? Even whackier... rotfl

Never use a grip. That way, shooting vertical gives my arm pit a chance to air out.

Hope you recover quickly SnerdButIf its any consequenceI'll think of you every time I take a vertical or use to to stabilize the camera. I use it too much.

Get better soon. I love my Nikon MB-D10 for it is compatible with both of my bodies.
