This worked pretty good for me. This photo, (taken with my point and shoot obviously) shows the set-up. I took a simple legal size envelope, folded it in half and taped it to bounce the flash UP and not directly at the subject. This looks ghetto but will help me a great deal when photographing people.

Quite a difference.
 
Quite a difference in the WB of the background.
 
I'd use a business card IMO if you're going to diffuse the flash. I have a feeling the blue "security coating" inside is what's giving it the blue tint.
 
Try parchment paper. It diffuses light smoothly and won't cast colors like that.
 
True, however the apple was true to it's natural color with the envelope.

Negative. The white balance of the entire image is off. You need to adjust for a cooler/higher kelvin temp. Pick up an off camera flash for about $70 like a YN467, and watch your images take a turn for the better.
 
I highly recommend this design, used it for years. It is very cheap, and works nicely.
