Do I have this right? (questions about aperture)

Yes, there's nothing to argue about, is there? I had the impression that some people thought that f/16 was an f-number.

Wow there's lot's of discussion going on in here. Thanks for the info everyone! There's a lot of stuff in here I didnt know. So I think it makes a little more sense now if I think about it like a fraction...like f/16 is smaller than f/4.5 if you think about it in the same way as the fraction 1/16th is smaller than 1/4th (although I also understand that's not litterally what it means )

But I'm a little confused as to what a 'lower' aperture means, that means a small number, so a wide aperture right?
