Joking aside, the Pentax LX is a brilliant camera. In its time it was aimed at professionnal photographers and is often considered to be the first weather-sealed SLR. It is very robust and will take some wonderful K-mount lenses. As for the gold plated version, it is just a matter of taste; I personally find it shockingly ugly. Most are owned by collectors and have never been used. Find a good (black or chrome) one, get it CLA'ed and it should last for years.
