Both excellent shots. For me, the first loses out a little because the trees compete somewhat for your attention. But the expressions on both are great - it looks like they were well aware of your presence.

In the 2nd image, just above the Doe's left ear there is a grey dot. Is this part of the brush that was out of focus or is it a speck of dust on your sensor or lens.

It caught my eye and just looks out of place.

In the first photo, did you remove something from the center of the photo... like a branch or something?

No. I guess you're seeing a branch that was in the foreground, probably should have been edited out.
