Does anyone use After Affects?

Quicktime H.264. But I have trouble getting that to work on Windows, so I use AVI Lossless and re-compress in Media Encoder. For some reason that works. Let me know if you need more specifics.

Depends but normally uncompressed h264.

Massive files sizes tho, I just did an intro sequence and it about about 3gb.

I also use quicktime H.264. It seem to be the best work for me. Do you use Premier? I'm looking into that.

Yes. I use Premier. If you're editing in AE, stop and get a proper editor. I have no idea how people do this, i'd think it would be super cumbersome. I think if you do a lot of editing, getting and learning Premier would be very beneficial.

A lot of my classmates also use Final Cut. It's really a tomato/tomahto thing, but if you use Adobe products then I'd stick within that workflow.

If the comp is going to Premiere I use Quicktime Animation via the Render Que. If going to Vimeo then I place the comp in the Adobe Media Encoder and H.264

In CC you can dynamically link AE into Premiere timelines using the File->Adobe Dynamic Link->New After Effects File. The AE footage is then rendered using Mercury at the same time the rest of the footage is and is updated automatically when changes are applied.

Is this not available on earlier versions? I thought it was in CS 6? If so, is there any reason not to use Dynamic Link?

I should have mentioned Dynamic Link for those with the Creative Suite. I have PrPro & AE purchased separately. At the time it was cheaper for me to upgrade from PrProCS3 to CS6 and AE CS4 to CS6. I also had PS CS5. At that time Adobe did have a subscription option for the Production Suite and think it was around $90/mo. As a hobbyist a little steep. When Adobe no longer has updates for my versions then I may reconsider. I would love to have the full suite and the Dynamic Link option.

I wanted to mention that it is better to export H.264 from the AME than the Render Que for 2 pass encoding.
