Does this processing work here? Morocco style fountain

I was going for a gritty, high detail, high contrast type of look. If you see another smoother version or another edit you feel would be better, then feel free to post it here.

Do you think this type of processing works with this image?

The background is very detailed that it distracts from the fountain and the base of the fountain looks like it is sliding to the left. That's only me, others may have a better comments.
