Dont underestimate lens kit

Kit lenses will take good images.. the major limitation on them is that they require that the aperture be closed down significantly more than a higher quality lens! It might need F8 to get close to the sharpness I can get at 2.8 on a better lens. And it still won't have the same resolving power...

#1 I can read the galaxie 500 on the rear of the car.. at the distance, your DOF should have been more than adequate to cover it. Unfortunately, that is basically the only thing that is sharp.

#2 is the only one moderately sharp on the subject across the entire subject plane... the rest are soft or OOF.

#3 ... so bad it hurts the eyes. Looks like Lensbaby...

#4 looks like you focused on the top of the bolt just left of the bottle, very very shallow DOF... the rest is OOF

As far as sharpness and focus goes, this is easily noticeable even with these small images! The size alone would hide many defects. I only commented on the focus and sharpness... I am not touching framing or composition!

Just out of curiosity, on the 1st shot did you apply some sort of "miniaturized" effect in post production, or just have a real shallow depth of field?

#4 holds the most promise but could use a little more depth of field. I can see what you were going for here and you almost had it, but with a real shallow DOF, especially at close range, even if you were to get the "subject" (let's say the bottle cap, as an example) in focus, just a slight shift forward or backward before you take the shot would throw it out of focus. A smaller aperture (larger f-stop number) would give you more DOF but would also result in an underexposed shot unless you compensated by either using a slower shutter speed (risk of a blurred shot) or raise the ISO (risk of additional noise, although I think some graininess would work in this shot). If you were shooting in an auto mode then the camera set some or all of these for you.

The shot is thru manual mode... thanks mate. that's help me out. I am waiting an used prime lens nikon f1.4 Ai. what do u think about that lens
