817lb? That cannon doesn't look like it's anywhere near as big as a 24pounder! I'd expect it's shot to be 6lb or somewhat less

It seems I was WAY out then. A 6" sphere of iron weighs about 32lb.
That's actually one of the bigger sizes in common usage - see British Cannonball Sizes (found in less than half the time it took to work out the weight myself )

The carriage isn't clear in your shot but despite the artistic blur looks more like a naval mounting (small wheels) than an army one.

3" is much closer to what I initially thought! Roughly a 4lb ball.
