Downloading Color Profiles

Ok, so I am doing a lot of picture taking and am sending my pictures to be printed at our Costco. For now, I like that I can take a picture, edit it on PSE9, send it to Costco, and go retrieve and inspect an hour later.

Here is my question:
I've heard about downloading a color profile for the printer my local Costco uses. What would be the purpose of doing that and would it change the way I view the coloring of my pictures on my home computer?

I ask because I recently printed some pictures that looked just fine on my computer, but when I got the pictures printed out they had a yellow tint to them. I'm pulling my hair out! I get my pictures to look just the way I want them too, but then I print and I am not getting what I have on my screen!

When I print I print with their Auto correction off.
