Not taken with a macro lens so posted here.
Used the Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR with the D7100.
I complained about this lens on the D90 because it was soft over 250mm, but on the D7100 (with -10 AF fine tuning) it does get pretty sharp I think.

Nicely done, I like the orange and black contrasting on the tail. Cropping looks great to me.

Very nice image, most of the bug is in focus, particularly the head. The crop seems okay to me.
