Took this while out walking on a nature trail with a friend.

#1 that is a Damselfly, not a dragon. I love dragons, and their cousins the damsels, but that is a damsel. #2, that is some harsh light. Not that it is a totally bad thing, but it just doesn't help the subject to my eyes. #3, the composition is not flattering to the subject. The way the damsel sits in the frame is not all that great. I mean, you don't have to get the entire body into frame as long as the eyes are in focus. Sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes it is not. I think mostly the way the damsel sits in the frame results in an unappealing composition and pose. Perhaps if you have gotten more to the left-lower-infront it could have been different, but there is no way to know now. Oh, and the top-down view is nearly never a good view of a damsel because that is the way most people see them.

The picture overall looks a bit over contrasted and it looks soft to me.
I like the details on the wings though.

I would have probably needed a better lens to get the angle I wanted without it flying away.

With my current camera, the macro setting only works if you personally get the camera as close to the subject as possible. =/

I was about 10" away when I took that one of the yellow DF! But yea.. you need better gear!
