DSLR and Mirrorless owners

@cgw Bottom line, modern digital camera sensors unlike film, dont need a UV filter. They don't add weather sealing, and the debate rages on as to if they provide any protection in a fall, or if they're more likely to inflict more damage. It's also a known fact that they will degrade over time resulting in a reduction of IQ. Like above poster, I do keep a lens hood on every lens.

I still have a couple that I keep for special circumstances where a dusty environment or other issues make it preferable. All of my other filters are square, with step down rings that fit all of the varying sizes of my lenses.

I put a clear uv filter on all my lenses. None of my filters have ever gotten scratched so I really don't need them. They just make me feel better.

When you purchase new lenses do you purchase just mirrorless lenses or lenses that will work on both?
I am thinking of purchasing a mirrorless camera in the near future along with a couple of the trinity lenses, 24-70 and 70-200. I do have a Canon 80D that I think I'll still use.
Does it make since to buy EF lenses to use on both or just invest in the RF lenses?

Boy ain't that the pits! Was a time when if you wanted a new lens you went and bought one. Now you have to get one that will work with the camera you have. Why is that? Is that simply a move to sell more equipment? Now if there's a camera you want you might have to consider a whole new bunch of lens that will work on it. Wonder how long it took them to figure that out. I don't think any of my old film lenses will work on my DSLR cameras! matter of fact I'm not sure some of my DSLR lenses would actually work on any other Nikon camera, Nikon is what I have. have a 70-200 Nikon I used to used on my Nikon film camera but it won't work on my Nikon DSLR camera. But I have an 18-200 Tamron on my D7000 that will cove everything the 70-200 will and more, might need to add some light but a flash is less expensive than a new lens!
