anyone have a fav low end dslr. I would love to have a canon 1d, but lets try and keep things alittle lower on the price scale

Sigma SD 9 looks good price-wise. Going for $1295 (USD) at a couple of online vendors with 2 Sigma zooms (28-70 & 70-200 IIRC).

Like any digital SLR it has some issues, but it's hard to fault a properly exposed pic from one.

Check out the Canon D60 6.38 mp ...I picked up mine on eBay for $899 with buy it now. Also this site is great http://dpreview.com/
