Dust 17-55mm

Why is there such a dust problem with the Canon 17-55mm ?

Would using a UV filter on it from the get-go, eliminate that problem?

I'm not sure why, but yes...I've heard that the 17-55mm is rather prone to getting dust inside it. I don't think that keeping a filter on the front will solve the problem, as there are other ways for dust to get inside.

99% of the time, the dust won't show up in the photos...or affect the quality of them at all. It's just bothers the photographer :er:

the dust gets in where the outer ring and inner ring are, not sealed very good.
