I love this guys expression.
Evolution hasn't been kind to him. LoL

There is a face only a mother... wait... I don't think a mother would love that either. :meh:

Great Shot. You can see every detail on that ugly noggin of his.
Do you know what he eats to require the nose dip?

Vultures are scavengers, I expect that nasty looking beak is designed for ripping meat.
Its incredible really, they've evolved that bald crown because they feed on the carcases of dead animals. If they had feathers on their heads they would become covered in blood and guts which they wouldn't be able to reach and clean.

Excellent shots! Great clarity of this ugly creature. I love seeing the detail under his beak; great show of texture.

ugh! Carrion-eaters.... nasty, but they have their place in the food chain.

Bless his scaly little head.

Killer shots. Looks like something out of a movie....maybe Labyrinth or something. Very cool.

Looks like the bad guys from The Dark Crystal.

In the first shot, it looks like he is trying to pull off an eagle pose or something. IMO it's so ugly, it's kinda cute. But anyways, these are great shots, I've never seen a vulture up close before.

good shot bob! looks like a disney creation. how were you able to catch this?

still an awesome site, thanks for sharing!

What equipment did you use to capture these shots??
I'm really interested in wildlife photography, as I study ecology and evolution. Understanding evolution is incredible, how much explanation it gives to just about everything you observe in nature.
