Hi, I'm a teenage photographer that recently took up the craft. I will be going into high school next year. I would appreciate it a lot if you gave critique on a couple of B&W shots I took. Don't be afraid to criticize me, I know I'm still an amateur, but please leave profanity or foul language out of your post. Thanks

You are still very much in the experimenting stage, which is cool. I like the old man pic, though the background is blown to smithereens and the angle is odd. I like the crop - a lot of people won't, but I can dig it. Not too crazy about the teenagers in the mid right edge, they seem to be mulling about.

It'd be nice if this image were in focus, but you know that, I'm sure.

Power boxes are kind of a photoshop solarization nightmere. We all go through that phase. Compositionally speaking, it works ok, except teh for frontmost box which is cut off oddly, looks like you were watching your edges on this one, but neglected that box or chose to place it there but didn't work out in my opinion. The grass is also blown, which I'm not too crazy about.

The tennis player is a decent capture, but shadow detail is lacking and the poor guy's head is fusing with the foliage. Not a bad moment though, and looks decently in focus, though this may be an illusion due to it's overly contrast processing.

Don't be fooled by high contrast, it looks powerful on first glance but whenever you make the tradeoff for detail it's a fail.

Looks like you are on your way. Great job for being so young. You have a good appreciation for the black and white, which is outstanding. Your images seem to be a little contrasty, which works from an artistic perspective, but be careful about pushing it too far and lose detail in the darks and lights (as stated above). The thing I like most about these images is your sense of composition. You are not there yet, but on the right track. The electric boxes shot is pretty cool, and I like the guy and the bike. The lines shooting vertically through the scene add some interesting movement, it balances with the off-balance man on his bike. Not a bad start. Looks like you are familiar with the fundamentals of composition dude!!

Thank you for the advice guys, I really appreciate it I agree, I did go crazy on the contrast in Lightroom, I'll make sure to tone that down in the future, I need to stop listening to my non photographer friends xD. Thanks a lot, hopefully I'll improve and show more of my work to you guys in the future!

My advice don't stop shooting and keep posting what you can because you will only improve from it.
