Engagement Shoot Ari & Simeon

Was he mackin' on her throughout the entire shoot? I like the sunset silhouette with dual leaps...romantic!

Was that first one a wide angle, by any chance?

Looks really good. Perhaps a bit overboard on the sharpening for displaying online but should print very well.

Nicely done.

These were all taken with an 18-55 mm lens

These should probably be in the people photography forum...

You seemed to use pop up flash on all but the silhouette. Also, as Manaheim alluded to, you used a wide angle on the first two shots, which elongates people and features. There's also harsh shadows on 1, 2, & 4 due to the pop up flash. Not what I'd expect to find in the professional gallery.

Well i beg to differ. Yeah i ised a pop up flash but i feel it not the equipment that makes you a photographer. The greatest photographers can make masterpieces with a point and shoot. I get hired for my service and would consider myself a semi professional and am working on become a pro and i feel to do that i should start thinking like a pro and get a pro's critique so i can improve my skills. And with that i thank you for criticism and i will be more aware of shadows

I also disagree. I don't care for #4 at all, but I think 1, 2, and 3 are done very well, especially considering the equipment you are using.

Yes, there is some distortion, and yes, there are a few shadow issues in #1, but overall, it is a competent set.

I agree with you, it's not totally the equipment that makes the photographer. You are right. However, improper use of equipment at any caliber will make for less than pleasing images, which is what happened here. Shooting with more than one lens will also lead to effects that you simply cannot create with just the mediocre kit lens... Which is also what this set is missing.

The greatest photographers can make masterpieces with a point and shoot.

Yes, the greatest photographer would have a much easier time making an extraordinary image out of mundane tools. But the greatest photographers would much rather have a tool kit with multiple different avenues and options for a shoot as dynamic as a couples portraiture session.

I get hired for my service and would consider myself a semi professional and am working on become a pro and i feel to do that i should start thinking like a pro and get a pro's critique so i can improve my skills. And with that i thank you for criticism and i will be more aware of shadows

If you really are genuine about putting out professional quality images, I suggest you turn off the on camera flash, get used to shooting with off camera flash, and develop an array of high(er) quality lenses. Your ideas for shots and locations are good, but the execution leaves something to be desired. FYI, you will still get critique from Pros in the people photography forum. They don't all just live in the Professional Gallery, so no need to worry about that.

Keep shooting.

I have a variety of lens available but most if them are for macro and wildlife photos i plan on getting a 50mm lens and a flash but with three kids money is tight. All my photography money goes to equipment. And i think everyone had there opinions all that matters was the clients were happy and impressed and i was proud to take those and that is all the satisfaction that is needed. I do like to get technical opinions which is why im on here. I know that my equipment is limited but many on here give me tips to get better with the current equipment i have.

I do want c&c but telling me to move to another forum was a little rude and i dont think telling people to buy equipment is much of a critique i did thank him for the advise on the shadows but what he failed to do is how to correct those more efficiently.
