Engagement shoot for a friend

One of my friends from high school asked me if I could take some quick engagement photos for her as a favor. We were going to go out to a nice brushy pasture with the horse, but her fiance couldn't get his truck with the gooseneck hitch to start, so we didn't have anything to pull the trailer. So we made do at his house lol.

Well thanks. Luckily that day was sunny but slightly overcast so it was easy to work around the natural light.

Haha yeah I thought about it. Although you can't see it in the photo, the building is actually pretty much destroyed so we couldn't go inside it. I tried to envision some photos around it, but the mood just didn't feel right since she was dressed so casually.

I understand. It looks like it's about to come down, that is what I like about it. Were you able to use the doorway to it at all?

I wasn't. :/

The doorway was actually up off the ground with a bunch of debris sticking out of it. Otherwise it might have been cool to get a wide shot when the sun began to go down with the corn field in the background.

I also used a 5DC, and I must say, the tones of the photos taken with it seem to be much more pleasing or at least easier to edit than those from my newer 6D. The autofocus on the 5D also seems be to more accurate than the 6D when using the center point. It was the same way with my 1D Mark II as well. It's weird.

I concur. The out of focus horse in #2 is pretty awesome.

Good set man. Sometimes little things can make a difference. For example 2nd photo from last, the lunch box should not be there. His phone should also not be in his pocket with that tight jeans.

He also needs a boot cut jeans. The boots should be worn inside the jeans.

Ah, yeah, dang I didn't realize the phone. At least those are things that can easily be processed out.

Actually, wearing the boots outside the jeans is fairly common in this area especially when the boots are tall (his aren't but many cowboys where them tall). It keeps the boots from chaffing the leg, and also keeps them from getting caught when moving through rough terrain. Chaps do the same thing but sometimes those are cumbersome. Boot cut jeans are usually the nice jeans that people go dancing in, because that's when most folks have the jeans over the boots. Then again, that's just in Texas. I'm not sure how they do it in Colorado, Wyoming, or other places.

Plus, it's just more common with boots that have a colorful shaft. Not sure why.
