Enhancement question

Hi. This might sound weird to some people but I do a lot of ghost hunting and the like and thus I take a lot of pictures. I have been using Photoscape as an editing software but I'm having some problems. When I take a picture and I see something in it, I crop that part of the picture. After cropping the picture how do I enhance it? As in how do I make it more visible and not as cluttered looking from all the colors of the background looking a little blurry because of me cutting out a small area and making it bigger?
