Colour or B&W?

The B&W looks too dark on this white background, but looks just fine on a dark background.

I'd have to vote for the color, actually. You have a lot of good color contrast that doesn't really translate into tonal contrast in the bw. I also think this is inherently a panoramic shot. The grass in the foreground and the black sky at the top don't really add anything. The house would seem isolated and lonely in a panoramic just as well, especially if it's printed/viewed very large, as most panoramics should be.

Maybe if the B/W were cropped, I would think differently, but I like the color version. In particular because of the red roof. It makes a strong focus point.

I think you lose the building as the main focus point in the B&W.

Color, all the way, hands down. The B&W is not even in the running for me.

Colour for me.

I find in the colour the barn acts as the main focal point - it stands out well to its surroundings and is clearly seen. Whilst in the black and white the contrast around the barn makes it vanish - it kind of blends into becoming almost a background element. Meanwhile the patch of soft blue in the sky becomes a dark, deep black and really pulls in the eye - it distracts because fast after that I see the powerline and then I've kind of lost the focus on the barn.

So colour for me - unless you tweak the contrast values locally around the black and white version to make the barn area "pop" more .

I have three things I gaze at in your shot. The structures, the blue sky and the power posts leading away to the horizon(Imagine that, the rule of thirds lol). The BW conversion just takes away all of that and changes my focus to the foreground grass and the white clouds.

Can I take a colored super sized!

I like the B&W - I think it simplifies the image. And I would probably crop a little off the top and bottom.

First off, thanks everybody for the feedback!

A bit of background info. I don't know about everybody else, but before pressing the shutter release I know exactly if I'm going to be processing an image in colour or B&W (and I compose accordingly). In this case, it was colour. But when I got home, for whatever reason I decided to process it in B&W. As the minutes went by and the editing was leading nowhere, I grew frustrated and stopped, then decided to try again but in colour.

After a full day of letting this sink in, I believe colour works best but I don't think I'm fully satisfied with the current edit. I am plenty happy with the framing, though.

Meanwhile the patch of soft blue in the sky becomes a dark, deep black and really pulls in the eye - it distracts because fast after that I see the powerline and then I've kind of lost the focus on the barn.
Spot on!

Sure! I accept major credit cards and PayPal as well ;)

...aaand I've changed my mind. Decided to convert to B&W again, starting from scratch, adding a new crop (suggested by someone on another forum) to boot.

I think I like this much better. In the first attempt, I was thrown off by the black sky and other tonal differences between the two. This one allows my eye to focus more on the barn and water towers, rather than a stark black void.
