From what I could learn locally, these were introduced to NA accidentally through the Bahamas in the 70's. Since then they have migrated west and north and have been spotted as far north as the Alaskan panhandle. I contacted the natural history society, and was told by a very nice lady that they had first been observed on Vancouver Island in'04, but I had the 1st reported sighting in my area. Kinda cool!

That's cool that not only you spotted it but you also got to photograph it for proof of location

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4; probably while slacking off at work

Don't get me wrong. There are a few of these around and enough birders to have recognized them. I was just the first to report it. I have since spoken to a few locals that knew they weren't regulars around here, but they just ignored it.

Nice capture. We see them down here in Florida.
